If you want to see how the full version works, try Sphere (subscription model - you get a full S1 build for $15 a month - if you like it, you can switch to the buy model vs. I'm currently using Studio One and am very happy with it. Some of these are not cheap to go all in. They all have pretty much the same core functionality, so there aren't many features that you can only get in one DAW.ĭepending on what kind of recording you're doing, you will probably wind up wanting to get the full version of whatever you wind up with, so factor that in. You should check out a few and some will stand out as easier and more intuitive to you. I found it very intuitive and only switched because It wasn't handling MIDI very well and I do a fair amount of MIDI programming. You should also check out Tracktion Waveform - they have a fully featured free version. It should reveal how intuitive they are to YOU (different brains work different ways - I could not get my head around tracking in Ableton - the clip stuff made sense, but recording a song using it did not fit my brain). Definitely start with the free ones and try to get through one song with each.
